Bahlil Ensures President Jokowi Opens Investment Doors for All Countries

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave directions that Indonesia should open its doors as wide as possible to all countries. This was conveyed by the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia. Bahlil said President Jokowi also ensured that the government would give equal treatment to all investors. "Under the order of Mr. President Joko Widodo, that Indonesia must give as much space as possible to all countries. We are not only leaning towards one country but all of our countries are giving the same place as long as it complies with the laws and regulations," Bahlil said as quoted by Antara. , Wednesday (27/10/2021).


In line with this directive, the government will continue to support foreign investors entering Indonesia. According to the records of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM for the period January-September 2021, Singapore is still in the top position of the country with the most investment in Indonesia, amounting to USD 7.3 billion. Followed by Hong Kong at USD 3.1 billion, China at USD 2.3 billion, Japan at USD 1.8 billion and the Netherlands at USD 1.5 billion. "Singapore is still number one. We know that this is also a hub for several countries," said Bahlil. Meanwhile, based on the realization of investment realization in the third quarter of 2021, Singapore is still the top country with the most investment in Indonesia, amounting to USD2.6 billion.


After Singapore, there is Hong Kong with USD 900 million, followed by Japan with USD 7 million, China with USD 600 million and the United States with USD 500 million. Meanwhile, the realization of investment during the third quarter of 2021 reached Rp216.7 trillion, grew 3.7% compared to the same period the previous year (year on year/yoy), but this achievement was recorded to have slowed by 2.8% compared to the previous quarter (quarter-to-quarter/qtq). Employment up to that period reached 288,687 people, down 2.3% yoy. Cumulatively during January-September 2021, investment realization reached R659.4 trillion or 73.3% of the target set by President Jokowi of Rp900 trillion.
