Indonesia Ranks 3 Most Growing Startup Businesses in the World

Indonesia is ranked as the third most developed startup business in the world behind Mumbai and Copenhagen. The Global Startup Ecosystem Annual Report (GSER) 2021 ranked Jakarta third after Mumbai in India and Copenhagen in Denmark out of one hundred cities worldwide in the list of 'Evolving start-up ecosystems'. Not only that, Jakarta also ranks highest in the Southeast Asia region beating Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, and Manila as the city with the most developed startups, reported by the Startupgenome.com website. "The ranking in GSER 2021 shows the strength in the ecosystem with the highest potential to become a global top performer. Having a good support system is one of the supporting aspects," said Wayah Wiroto, Managing Director of Endeavor Indonesia in a release received by CNNIndonesia.com, some time ago.

This data finally moved the UK-Indonesia collaboration to create a startup-based program to improve the business industry sector for beginners. The program aims to nurture budding entrepreneurs in Indonesia by providing them with access to resources, knowledge, successful founders, key industry leaders and mentors to improve their businesses. The activity, which was initiated by the British Embassy in Jakarta with Endeavor, will run from November 5 to January 2022. Selected participants will attend an 8-week program of workshops and mentoring sessions led by leading business leaders. The target of this program is startups that have business technology with a head office in Indonesia. The business is not in the idea stage, but rather a ready-to-use product that has sufficient market appeal.

A total of 35 new start-ups will be selected from the program. However, priority will be given to female-led startups in the fields of health technology, Covid-19 response, disaster response technology, focusing on SMEs, climate change, humanitarian response and education or women's empowerment efforts. "This exciting program will benefit all participants, society and the Indonesian economy at large. I am pleased that the UK is doing a lot to support the dynamic startup world in Indonesia. Collaborations like this spark innovation, forge new partnerships and strengthen ties between the two countries," said Rob Fenn, Deputy British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste in an official release received by CNNIndonesia.com, Monday (25/10). UK-Indonesia Tech Hub Director, Rachmalia Nikijuluw added that this program is in line with the UK-Indonesia Tech Hub's goal, which is to build a global network of technology hubs with the aim of forging innovative partnerships between the UK and the Indonesian technology sector. In addition to stimulating the local digital economy and building high-end digital skills to drive job creation and sustainable growth.
