President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the 38th ASEAN Summit (Summit) virtually. In the meeting, the leaders of ASEAN countries discussed the issue of economic recovery. "We have to prove that we can achieve more than that, through disciplined cooperation and joint steps," he said from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java. The joint agenda referred to by President Jokowi includes the reactivation of travel and tourism and the acceleration of the digital economy.
President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahendra Siregar in this meeting. "During the pandemic, the digital economy grew to reach USD 100 billion in 2020. This is a stepping stone for economic progress in our region and ASEAN's contribution to global economic recovery," he said.
