This is the Ministry of Industry's Strategy to Accelerate Making Indonesia 4.0

The Director General of Resilience, Territorial and International Industrial Access (Dirjen KPAII) of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) Eko SA Cahyanto revealed, the Ministry of Industry through Making Indonesia 4.0 has determined five priority sectors for the implementation of Industry 4.0. The five sectors include the food and beverage industry, the textile and apparel industry, the electronics industry, the automotive industry, and the chemical industry. Then, during this pandemic, the Ministry of Industry added two sectors, namely the pharmaceutical industry and the medical device industry.
“To accelerate the implementation of the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap, the Government of Indonesia has set 10 priority strategies for Making Indonesia 4.0 which include improving material flow, redesigning industrial estates, standards for sustainable accommodation, and empowering micro, small and medium enterprises. Furthermore, supporting the improvement of national digital infrastructure, foreign investment, and the quality of human resources. In addition, the establishment of an innovation ecosystem, the application of technology investment incentives, as well as harmonization of rules and policies," said Eko in his presentation at the Business Forum organized by the Ministry of Industry at Expo 2020 Dubai, Sunday (24/10/2021).

In addition, to assist Indonesia's transformation towards industry 4.0, the Ministry of Industry also has the Indonesian Digital Industry Center (PIDI) 4.0 which is part of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency of the Ministry of Industry. Eko explained, PIDI 4.0 was built with the vision of being a one stop solution in the adoption of industry 4.0 in Indonesia and becoming Indonesia's 4.0 window to the world. In line with this, the Ministry of Industry is increasingly focusing on improving the competence of human resources (HR) to support the implementation of industry 4.0. Collaborating with Ministries/Agencies and various stakeholders in Indonesia, the Ministry of Industry prepares skilled and quality human resources, and masters the new skills needed in the Industry 4.0 era.

The Ministry of Industry is currently developing a program related to smart-eco industrial parks, which is also in line with efforts to realize sustainable industrial development, apply green industry principles, and increase competitiveness. Smart industrial estates utilize industrial technology 4.0, such as automation, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), as well as digital ecosystems to operate. "Smart Industrial Parks are an innovative model to integrate supply and demand for energy, water, waste and logistics, and security," said Eko. Furthermore, the Ministry of Industry will focus on supporting industry players and technology providers by re-optimizing regulations and policies to be investor-friendly. "I hope that through the business forum at Expo 2020 Dubai, investors can take advantage of opportunities and collaborate in developing the industrial sector through industrial capabilities in Indonesia in implementing technology 4.0," said Eko.
