Sharia economy is growing rapidly in Indonesia. As the country with the most Muslim population in the world, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) wants Indonesia to become the center of the world's sharia economy.
"I have said many times that Indonesia, as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, must become a major player in the sharia economy and the halal industry in the world. Indonesia must be the center of gravity of the world's sharia economy," he said. Indonesia's sharia economic rating continues to increase from year to year.
Finally, in 2020, Indonesia is ranked 4th in the world. This achievement is very proud. However, President Jokowi does not want to be complacent. "But we must not be complacent. There needs to be a synergistic effort between stakeholders so that our sharia economy grows even faster. And that is an important role that the Islamic Economic Community (MES) must play," he said.
