The Minister of Finance (Menkeu), Sri Mulyani, explained the 6 priority economic agendas of the G20 Indonesia Presidency in 2021 to the finance ministers of G20 member countries. Sri Mulyani met with finance ministers from G20 member countries and the World Bank Group Team, on the sidelines of her visit to Washington DC, United States (US), on October 14, 2021. Sri Mulyani revealed the agenda for the meeting through her Instagram account, @smindrawati. According to the Minister of Finance, the meeting was important to explain Indonesia's readiness to hold the G20 Presidency in 2022. "Holding the G20 Presidency is not a moment that happens every year. Indonesia must be able to achieve the targets of the international agenda as well as possible," Sri Mulyani said, quoted from her Instagram account, Saturday (16/10/2021).
The Minister of Finance explained that in order for Indonesia's 2022 G20 Presidency to run smoothly, he held a series of bilateral meetings with finance ministers/senior ministers of G20 member countries, including Argentina, Saudi Arabia, USA, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, Singapore, Turkey, France, and India. Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases is a Priority for the Ministry of Health During the meeting, the Minister of Finance explained that the Finance Track of the Indonesian Presidency will focus on six priority agendas, namely:
1. Exit Strategy to support recovery
2. Efforts to overcome the negative impact of the pandemic on the economy to secure future growth
3. The payment system in the digital era
4. Sustainable finance
5. Financial inclusion
6. International taxation.
The theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger” will be revealed on several strategic pillars that will form the foundation of the G20 agenda in 2022, namely promoting increased productivity, increasing resilience and stability, and achieving inclusive and sustainable growth. In addition to discussing the planned G20 agenda, the Minister of Finance also used the meeting to share experiences in implementing the G20 Presidency in other member countries as well as strengthening economic cooperation relations between the two countries. "I also had a meeting with a team from the World Bank Group, including Ms. Mari Elka Pangestu. We coordinated the plans for the G20 Presidency in Indonesia and updates on global economic conditions," said Sri Mulyani. He hopes that the G20 Indonesia 2022 Presidency can be carried out well, Indonesia can become a country that is able to optimize domestic economic recovery while contributing to global economic recovery, and play a role in determining the direction of world economic policy.
