Since the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia, the trend of ornamental fish has increased. In fact, reaching to foreign countries so as to encourage the level of ornamental fish exports from Indonesia. One of them is ornamental fish from the city of Bandung which recorded significant gains by reaching 33 countries. It is known, the export value reached Rp 9.2 billion in just the period of September 2021.
Head of the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Fishery Product Safety (BKIPM) Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Rina said during the period 1-24 September 2021, nearly 2 million ornamental fish were exported from the Flower City. "Exports of ornamental fish from Bandung have reached 33 countries in the world, of course this is an achievement that we should maintain and improve," he said. During the period from September 1-24, he said, the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of BKIPM in Bandung has also issued 95 health certificates or fish health certificates. The export value generated from the ornamental fish commodity reached Rp 9.2 billion. "The exported fish come from business units that have been certified by IKI and CKIB grades A and B. So we can be sure that the fish are of good quality," he said.
Rina said from these exports, there were 118 types of ornamental fish that penetrated the global market. However, the top three favorite ornamental fish in the export market are tetra, rasbora, and ornamental shrimp. Meanwhile, Japan, the United States and Singapore are the top 3 export destinations from 33 countries. In order to maintain this positive trend, Rina asked her staff to continue to synergize and collaborate with business actors. He hopes that by maintaining this export trend, it can encourage the improvement of the welfare of the local community as well as open up new business opportunities in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
