The 36th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) will hold a special forum for the halal industry. The trade exhibition, which will be held from October 21 to November 4, 2021, will collaborate with the Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC), which will also market halal products from Indonesian MSMEs. "One of them will be a Muslim fashion festival. We will do this to make Indonesia the center of the world's halal industry," said Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi in Jakarta, Monday (27/9).
Government support for the halal industry continues to be given because of the huge potential for halal products from Indonesia. Lutfi emphasized that the government is optimistic that Indonesia will be able to become the mecca of the world's Muslim fashion industry. He targets the total transactions recorded in the exhibition to reach more than 1.5 billion US dollars. "We are optimistic that we can achieve the transaction target because 1,000 companies and 500 visitors and potential buyers will participate," said Lutfi.
In 2020, the virtual TEI was attended by 690 business actors by presenting 7,456 buyers from 127 countries. TEI 2020 recorded a total transaction of 1.3 billion US dollars. This year's TEI is also expected to be able to accelerate the transformation of digital trade. The event also aims to create an effective and efficient online promotion and trade transaction vehicle. In addition, the Minister of Trade hopes that TEI 2021 can strengthen partnerships and maintain business continuity with potential buyers, expand penetration into new markets, build a positive image, and increase the competitiveness of various Indonesian products and services in the international market.
