Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia urges investors, especially investors from Europe, to invest in Indonesia. One of the investments offered is the construction of electric car batteries. According to the Investment Minister, Indonesia has the raw materials needed to manufacture electric vehicles, except lithium batteries. But now, he said, there are already South Korean investors, namely Hyundai and LG, who are starting to build electric car battery factories. In December this year, continued Bahlil, an investor from China, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd (CATL) will also enter Indonesia to build an electric vehicle battery factory. "We invite investors from Europe to take part in the electric battery industry. Why am I offering this? The raw material components of the car consist of four, namely nickel, manganese, cobalt and lithium. In Indonesia, there are three types of raw materials, namely nickel, manganese, and cobalt. We take the lithium battery from outside," he said virtually, Tuesday (21/9/2021).
The government also promises that investors will be given convenience in managing business licensing in the context of investment. The convenience offered starts from the licensing process, incentives, and land needed by investors. "That's why we believe, friends, please take part in investing, the government will be there to take care of the permit, take care of the incentives. Even if necessary, take care of the land as well. We can manage the mine, the important thing is that there is good communication with the government," he said.
"We believe that collaboration must be built, both between investors and with SOEs, as well as with national MSME entrepreneurs," he continued. Previously, the government was optimistic that it could achieve the investment target in 2021, amounting to Rp 900 trillion. Bahlil said that this year's investment gain has reached 49.2 percent of the Rp 900 trillion target. Foreign Investment (PMA) in the second quarter of 2021 reached Rp 116.8 trillion or 52.4 percent, almost equal to Domestic Investment (PMDN) which amounted to Rp 106.2 trillion or 47.6 percent.
