Indonesia will host the G20 forum in 2022. Indonesia carries the big theme 'recover together, recover stronger'.
"The year 2022 is also an important year for Indonesia considering that Indonesia will hold the G20 presidency. The big theme of the 2022 G20 presidency is 'recover together, recover stronger'," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, in a meeting with Commission I of the DPR, Thursday (2/9/2021).
Retno said the theme was taken by prioritizing sustainable economic recovery after the pandemic. Retno said the theme was not only relevant for the G20 group of countries, but also for countries in the world.
"This theme is motivated by Indonesia's vision to prioritize partnership and inclusiveness to encourage a strong and sustainable world economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
"Through this vision and theme, we ensure that the G20 will be relevant not only for its members, but also for all, especially developing countries," he continued.
Retno said the G20 forum would start in December this year. However, since late last year, Indonesia has been part of the G20 troika.
"Indonesia's presidency will start in December this year, but since the end of last year Indonesia has been included as part of the G20 troika with Saudi Arabia and Italy," he said.
Furthermore, Retno said that the forum is based on two pillars. It will soon launch the forum.
"We can say that there are two different pillars in the G20. The first pillar is the finance pillar which will be held by the Minister of Finance and the Governor of BI during the presidency. The two sherpa pillars are chaired by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Under the sherpa pillar there will be 15-level meetings minister," he said.
"In the near future, we will officially launch the G20 together. Where will we present the priority agenda and so on," said Retno.
