Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati sees from the huge potential of Indonesia's Islamic financial market, Indonesia should be able to become the main driver of the world's Sharia economy. "With the huge potential of the Islamic financial market, Indonesia should be able to become the main driver of the world's sharia economy, and not only become a target market for halal industrial products from other countries," Sri Mulyani said in a book launching broadcast via the KNEKS Youtube channel, Tuesday ( 29/6/2021).
As stated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the plenary meeting of the National Committee for Sharia Economy and Finance on February 5, 2018, Sri said, Jokowi said that the Government has a great commitment to developing sharia economy and finance in Indonesia. "To realize this enormous potential, it is indeed necessary to have a good, integrated, complementary and efficient sharia ecosystem supporting infrastructure," he said. According to him, one of the supporting ecosystems that still requires efforts to improve the strength of the sharia economy is the quality of human resources. Where the availability of quality human resources in Indonesia, the quantity is still lacking. So that this becomes a common challenge for all stakeholders of the national economy. "Therefore, in the national development of the state budget strategy, the development of the quality of human resources is a top priority," he added.
However, currently many stakeholders, especially in the academic world, have established Islamic economics study programs at various universities in Indonesia. Of course, according to Sri, this is a development that deserves support. “But we need to continue to improve the quality. Currently, of the 750 Islamic economics family study programs that have graduated approximately 30,000 human resources per year, it is necessary to continue to improve the relevance of the ability to be able to take part in the Indonesian economy, "he said. Even so, said Sri, based on the Islamic Finance development report, the number of graduates in Indonesia is a special achievement. "Of course we are happy with this development. However, it was conveyed that the improvement in the quality and relevance of human resource competencies in the field of Islamic economics still needs to be improved," said Sri.
Improving the quality of the curriculum and improving the quality of learning materials for Islamic economics study programs in Indonesia still need encouragement, linking the basics of sharia with relevance at the regional, national and global levels. "Sharia study programs must also be in harmony and update with the very fast development of the business world," she concluded.
