The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Mahendra Siregar underlined the strengthening of international confidence in Indonesia as seen from the increasing value of Indonesia's exports and the value of investment entering Indonesia in the first quarter of 2021. "With trust and work with business stakeholders, investors and consumers, Indonesia is optimistic to continue on track in recovering its economic performance," said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia at the opening of the Indonesia-Europe Trade Forum (17/06/2021). It was recorded that more than 600 business actors participated in this online Trade Forum. Participants came from various backgrounds such as business actors, especially importers and distributors in Western and Southern European countries, as well as Indonesian business actors including MSMEs.
The Trade Forum was held interactively, guided by Reza Valdo Maspaitella from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, presenting panelists of the Deputy Chairperson of KADIN, Shinta W. Kamdani, Secretary General of the Italian National Seafood Company Association, Giuseppe Palma, CEO of Moycor Vic SL Spain, Ignacio Garcia Gimeno, and CEO Van der Leeden Mandwerk Netherlands, Luuk Van der Leeden.
The panelists discussed the huge trade opportunities between Indonesia and partner countries in Western and Southern Europe. The three speakers from Europe mentioned the high demand for commodities from Indonesia such as seafood, rattan wood products and furniture. The panelists also discussed the scheme for standardizing the quality of export products including packaging, the use of digital platforms, as well as joint ventures and joint production work for products that are of interest to the European community.
In this Trade Forum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also facilitates virtual business matching between Indonesian entrepreneurs and importers and distributor partners in Europe. The business matching involved 35 Indonesian companies with business partners from Western and Southern Europe in the seafood, food and beverage products, textiles and wood products including furniture. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to oversee it until this business meeting continues to become a business deal that generates profits for entrepreneurs, including Indonesian and European MSMEs.
