In recent export data, the shipment of wood pellets (classified under HS Code 44 for wood and wood products) from Gorontalo Province to Japan has risen significantly. In October, Gorontalo exported 24,200 tonnes of wood pellets, which increased to 29,095.21 tonnes in November 2025. Comparing broader periods, total wood pellet exports from January–November 2025 reached 270,827.53 tonnes, up markedly from 171,860.62 tonnes in the same period of 2024, according to official statistics.

According to the Gorontalo Provincial Statistics Agency (BPS), overall export value through Gorontalo’s seaports and airports in November 2025 was USD 8.35 million, a 29.20% increase from the previous month. Of this, wood and wood products shipped to Japan accounted for USD 4,276,444 in value, while molasses (HS Code 17) exported to South Korea added another USD 1,674,000. The increase in wood pellet exports reflects growing trade activity for this biomass commodity from the region.
