Governor of Bali, NTB, and NTT Agree on Cooperation in 5 Strategic Sectors

On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the governors of Bali, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), and Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) signed a regional cooperation agreement (Perjanjian Kerja Sama / PKS) at ITDC The Golo Mori in Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat, NTT. The agreement covers five strategic sectors aimed at strengthening regional development and reducing isolation between the three provinces historically known as Sunda Kecil. In their speeches, leaders emphasized this cooperation as more than just bureaucratic formality — they described it as a shared commitment to inclusive and sustainable prosperity across eastern Indonesia. These sectors include transport connectivity, where the provinces agreed to integrate sea and air transport systems to ease movement of people and goods more efficiently.

The second focus area is tourism and creative economy optimization, with plans to develop a unified tourism brand that connects Bali, NTB, and NTT as one integrated destination. Third, the cooperation targets renewable energy (super grid), aiming to link clean energy potential in NTB and NTT — such as solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal — with Bali’s energy needs. Fourth is strengthening trade and exports, leveraging Bali’s status as an international hub to boost export opportunities for NTB and NTT producers. Finally, the provinces committed to integrated development planning, ensuring synergistic and strategic regional planning through cooperation between their planning agencies. The signing ceremony brought together not only the three governors but also legislative leaders and local government representatives, signaling broad support for this multi-sector collaboration.
