Aceh’s Governor Muzakir Manaf (Mualem) met with Trade Minister Budi Santoso in Jakarta on January 19, 2026, to advocate for accelerated import permits and distribution of cattle and buffalo ahead of the traditional Meugang celebration and the upcoming Ramadan season. This food security diplomacy aims to ensure ample meat supply and stable prices for the people of Aceh by strengthening coordination with the central government on import procedures and logistics.

During discussions with senior officials at the Coordinating Ministry for Food and Agriculture, Mualem emphasized that timely imports are critical for meeting increased demand during peak consumption periods, preventing shortages, and maintaining economic stability in local markets. He highlighted the necessity of central support for smoother clearance and distribution to benefit both consumers and businesses throughout the region.
