In 2023, Indonesia’s total export value to the Solomon Islands stood at USD 18.02 million, representing a 4.2% decline from the previous year’s figure of USD 18.81 million. Over the last decade, trade between the two countries has experienced a noticeable downward trend, with export values fluctuating between a high of USD 20.34 million and a low of USD 11.4 million. Among the 97 different product categories exported, 32 products were identified as consistently traded each year, and 35 products had values exceeding USD 1 billion in export value, indicating a diversified but modest export relationship.
The leading export item from Indonesia to the Solomon Islands in 2023 was Preparations of cereals, flour, starch, or milk (HS code 19), which recorded an export value of USD 4.75 million—an increase from US$3.46 million in the prior period. This category includes products grouped with “pastrycooks’ products.” Other significant exports included animal and vegetable fats and oils (USD 3.31 million), miscellaneous edible preparations (USD 2.65 million), tobacco and tobacco substitutes (USD 1.31 million), and soaps and washing preparations (USD 1.05 million). These figures highlight Indonesia’s continued role in supplying food and consumer goods to the Solomon Islands, even as overall trade value has softened.
