The governments of Indonesia and Belarus are intensifying bilateral cooperation in the technology and agriculture sectors to bolster Indonesia's national food security. During a recent meeting in Jakarta, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich discussed high-level collaboration involving modern agricultural machinery, investment, and joint ventures. This initiative follows President Prabowo Subianto's previous visit to Belarus and aligns with Indonesia's national priority to enhance productivity through large-scale food estates and advanced mechanization. Indonesia views Belarus as a key strategic partner capable of providing the expertise and modern equipment necessary to transform its agricultural landscape.
In support of this mission, Belarus has committed to fulfilling Indonesia's fertilizer requirements and expanding the supply of agricultural and dairy products. The partnership also extends to digital transformation, human resource development in science and technology (STEM), and the potential signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). To ensure effective implementation, both nations proposed the formation of technical working groups and knowledge-exchange programs. This collaboration serves as a foundational step toward the upcoming state visit of the Belarusian President in February 2026, marking a significant milestone in the economic partnership between the two countries.
