Universitas Jember (UNEJ) has reinforced its commitment to expanding its global network by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jilin Agriculture Science and Technology University (JLASTU) in China. The MoU signing took place at the JLASTU campus in Jilin city on December 9, 2025, and was aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of agriculture, technology, and academic development. According to UNEJ’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Slamin, this strategic step opens significant opportunities for long-term collaboration that benefits both institutions. The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both universities, including deans and academic leaders, who highlighted their shared goals and mutual interests in fostering deeper institutional partnerships.
The agreement is expected to serve as a foundation for collaborative activities that span student mobility, faculty exchanges, joint research projects, and other academic initiatives. Both UNEJ and JLASTU bring complementary strengths to the partnership: while JLASTU emphasizes advanced agricultural practices and technology, UNEJ focuses on tropical crop development and related scientific disciplines. This blend of expertise could lead to impactful innovations and enhanced educational experiences for students and faculty from both sides. The MoU not only underscores a mutual interest in academic excellence but also reflects a broader effort to address global challenges in agriculture and technology through shared knowledge and cooperative action.
