Indonesia is exploring new opportunities to export coconut oil and foster investment in a crude palm oil (CPO) processing plant in Colombia, signaling a strategic expansion into Latin American markets. Indonesian Ambassador to Bogotá Tatang Budie Utama Razak met with executives from INDUTRADE, a prominent vegetable oil sector company, to discuss broadening market access for Indonesian coconut oil and related products, including supplying feedstock for Colombia’s growing oleochemical industry. This engagement reflects Indonesia’s proactive efforts to diversify export destinations for its agricultural commodities.
The discussions also covered a potential USD 12 million investment by INDUTRADE to establish a CPO processing facility, which could strengthen upstream supply cooperation and enhance Indonesia’s presence in global vegetable oil value chains. The investment and export opportunities are seen as positive steps toward expanding trade ties and deepening industrial collaboration between Indonesian producers and international partners, particularly in Latin America.
