Trade Minister Budi Santoso urged the Kadin Indonesia to turn their attention to the European Union (EU) market, following the substantial completion of negotiations for the Indonesia–EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (Indonesia–EU CEPA). During a national leadership meeting (Rapimnas) of Kadin Indonesia in Jakarta, Budi emphasised that businesses should be ready to compete and supply products for the large EU market.
He noted that the CEPA agreement is planned to be signed as early as 2026, and he called on Kadin members — especially those already prepared for exports — to participate in product presentations and curations (pitching sessions) with Indonesian trade representatives stationed in the EU. The government-business collaboration will also be strengthened via a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Trade and Kadin Indonesia, covering data exchange, human-resource development in trade, empowerment of businesses, including SMEs, strengthening commodity markets, utilization of international trade agreements, and strengthening the domestic market for national products.
