At the BBK (Batam-Bintan-Karimun) Free Trade Zone investment forum in Singapore, Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto stressed Indonesia’s firm commitment to fostering a conducive business climate through streamlined regulations and strategic cooperation with Singapore. During the 15th ministerial meeting of the 6 Working Groups in June 2025, both countries recommitted to enhancing infrastructure, green economy, and healthcare, while ensuring supply-chain resilience and sustainable growth.
To support this vision, Indonesia has introduced several key policies: Government Regulations No. 28 and 25 of 2025 to simplify risk-based licensing and introduce service-level agreements, Presidential Regulation No. 1 of 2024 as the master development plan for BBK, and Presidential Regulation No. 21 of 2025 to facilitate land planning in Batam. These reforms seem effective, BBK’s investment jumped significantly in 2024, and the region now hosts five Special Economic Zones (SEZs), offering comprehensive incentives and streamlined services to investors.
