Indonesia has reaffirmed its ambition to become a global halal hub by 2029, with Jakarta envisioned as the future capital of the global halal ecosystem, according to Ahmad Haikal Hasan, Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH). The government has developed a strategic roadmap aligned with the national vision of Indonesia Emas 2045, aiming to strengthen the country’s position in the global halal sector. Cooperation has been expanded across nine ministries, three government agencies, regional governments, state-owned enterprises, private companies, and e-commerce platforms to support this initiative.
BPJPH has also bolstered technical capabilities to achieve this goal, including a national halal laboratory that can detect 46 DNA markers and the preparation of four million halal supervisors nationwide. Additionally, halal certification for MSMEs has surpassed 1.1 million business actors, laying a strong foundation for Indonesia to realize its vision as a world halal center.
