Tourism Becomes Indonesia’s Economic Engine in Q3/2025, Contributing 3.96% to National GDP

In the third quarter of 2025, Indonesia’s national economy grew by 5.04%, with the tourism sector contributing 3.96% to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). This significant contribution stems from strong performances in related sub-sectors, including business services (such as travel agencies), entertainment and recreation, transportation and logistics (especially services for tourists), as well as accommodation and food services, including hotels, restaurants, cafés, and lodging.

Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana expressed optimism that this positive momentum will continue into the fourth quarter, especially with the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays expected to boost both domestic and international tourist arrivals. The Ministry projects that foreign tourist arrivals could exceed 14 to 15 million in 2025, in line with the government’s updated 2025 Development Plan (RKP).
