Indonesia’s Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) has entered into a partnership with the Badan Modernisasi dan Perakitan Pertanian (BRMP) under the Ministry of Agriculture to integrate real-time climatological data into modern farming systems. This collaboration allows BMKG to deliver accurate and timely information—such as rainfall forecasts, temperature trends, and drought risk monitoring—for farmers to apply directly in the field. This integration aims to enable more informed decisions about when and how to plant, irrigate, and harvest, thereby increasing productivity and resilience to climate change.
BRMP emphasises that giving farmers direct access to BMKG’s climate data marks a significant step toward boosting national food self-sufficiency, aligned with the goals of President Prabowo Subianto. The partnership underscores a commitment to inter-agency collaboration and evidence-based innovation, seeking to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and practical agriculture. In doing so, it supports the development of agriculture that is sustainable and resilient across Indonesia’s diverse regions.
