Indonesia and Croatia Pledge Closer Cooperation and Mutual Support for OECD Membership

Indonesia and Croatia recently reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties, highlighting a shared goal of supporting each other’s bids to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). During a bilateral meeting, the foreign ministers of both countries emphasized that their respective accession efforts reflect a mutual strategy to advance economic transparency, institutional resilience, and sustainable growth. Croatia acknowledged Indonesia’s importance as a partner in Southeast Asia, while Indonesia recognized Croatia’s role as a gateway to the European market.

Beyond the institutional dimension, the two nations also discussed expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and sectoral collaboration. Trade between them stood at approximately USD 144.8 million in 2024, and they expressed optimism that an agreement on the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership would boost diversification and growth by opening new opportunities in the energy, digital economy, food security, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors. This evolving partnership signals a strategic pivot toward deeper global integration and shared development ambitions.
