Indonesia is set to construct 100 new warehouses for state-run logistics company Bulog to improve the absorption of rice and corn from local farmers. The initiative, directed by President Prabowo Subianto, aims to address storage shortages in major food-producing regions, ensuring that national food stocks are efficiently managed. The warehouses are part of a broader strategy to enhance post-harvest infrastructure and strengthen the country’s food security.
The government has allocated IDR 5 trillion (approximately USD 300 million) to support this plan. Rice production is projected to rise from 30 million tons in 2024 to 34.77 million tons in 2025, a 13% increase. By expanding storage capacity and streamlining supply chains, the initiative will help farmers sell their yields effectively, secure national food reserves, and support sustainable agricultural growth across Indonesia.
