Jokowi Officially Dissolves 10 Non-Structural Institutions, Here is the List

President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi officially dissolved 10 non-structural state institutions through Presidential Regulation Number 112 of 2020. He signed the regulation on Thursday, November 26, 2020. The regulation states that the reason for the dissolution of these 10 state institutions is to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the government, as well as to achieve the national development strategic plan.

With this dissolution, the implementation of the duties and functions of each of these institutions will be transferred to ministries and institutions in accordance with their respective fields, as explained in Article 2 of the Presidential Regulation. The 10 institutions that were dissolved by Jokowi were the National Research Council, the Food Security Council, the Surabaya-Madura Regional Development Agency, the National Sports Accreditation and Standardization Agency, and the Indonesian Hajj Supervisory Committee. Then the National Economic and Industry Committee (KEIN), the Telecommunication Advisory Board, the National Commission on Aging, the Indonesian Professional Sports Agency, and the Indonesian Telecommunications Regulatory Body. This is the umpteenth time Jokowi has disbanded non-structural state institutions as an effort to streamline government organizations so they can move more agile and fast. Because according to him only countries that can move quickly will be able to win the global competition.

“The fast country can beat the slow country. Not a big country beats a small one. If it can be returned to the minister or ministry, to the director general, to the directorate, the director, why do you have to use those agencies and commissions again? " he said in mid-July 2020. Previously in the first term of his administration, Jokowi had disbanded 23 non-structural state institutions. Then in July, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta again disbanded 18 institutions through Presidential Regulation No. 82/2020. Not stopping there, the Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Tjahjo Kumolo revealed that the government still plans to dissolve 29 other state institutions. A total of 10 institutions have been disbanded through Presidential Decree No.112/2020. Meanwhile, 19 other institutions will be dissolved in 2021 because they are related to regulations that must be discussed with the parliament.
