Indonesia has marked a significant milestone in downstreaming by exporting domestically produced electric bicycles to the U.S. and Europe. On 3 December 2024, Trade Minister Budi Santoso officiated the export of Polygon Kalosi electric bicycles, manufactured by PT Insera Sena, from Sidoarjo, East Java. The shipment, valued at USD 500,000 (equivalent to IDR 7.8 billion), underscores Indonesia’s capability to produce high-technology goods and add value to its exports. According to the minister, most components of the exported bicycles are sourced domestically, making this export a proud representation of Indonesian craftsmanship in global markets.
Minister Budi commended PT Insera Sena for its dedication to enhancing export performance and emphasized the importance of expanding Indonesia’s trade agreements to boost product competitiveness globally. The Ministry of Trade has prioritized the Export Market Expansion Program to secure such agreements and facilitate easier access to international markets. Budi highlighted the strong collaboration between Indonesia’s trade representatives abroad and PT Insera Sena, which paved the way for this achievement. He expressed hope that this success will inspire more businesses to export value-added products, thereby contributing to national economic growth. Senior officials, including Mardyana Listyowati, Director General of National Export Development, and Inspector General Putu Jayan Danu Putra, accompanied the minister during the ceremony.
