Investment Realization in Indonesia Hits IDR 1,261 Trillion by Q3 2024, Surpassing Bappenas Strategic Plan Target

Indonesia's investment realization from January to September 2024 reached IDR 1,261.43 trillion, or 76.45% of the IDR 1,650 trillion annual target, according to Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Perkasa Roeslani. The figure exceeds Bappenas' strategic plan target of IDR 1,239.3 trillion. Addressing Commission XII of the Indonesian Parliament on December 3, 2024, Rosan noted that foreign direct investment (FDI) accounted for IDR 654.4 trillion (51.88%), while domestic investment stood at IDR 607.03 trillion (48.12%). Additionally, regions outside Java dominated with IDR 635 trillion (50.34%) compared to Java's IDR 626.43 trillion (49.66%). Investment activities have created 1,875,214 jobs as of Q3 2024.

To maintain this growth, the government plans to simplify regulations and align central and regional policies to attract more investors. Emphasis will be placed on accelerating investments in renewable energy, targeted to grow by 2-3 times in the coming years. Speaking at the Indonesia-UK Climate and Green Finance event in London, Rosan highlighted downstreaming as a key driver of sustainable energy transition and called for support from international financial institutions and carbon markets. He also encouraged British investors to capitalize on Indonesia's renewable energy potential to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. It concludes that investment and renewable energy development remain vital to Indonesia’s economic transformation efforts.
