LPEI and Indonesian Diaspora Forge Path for Thousands of SME Products into Canadian Market

Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) collaborated with various entities, including the Trade Attaché Ottawa, Indonesian Trade Promotion Center Vancouver, Indonesian Diaspora in Canada, and Maharani Craft, to facilitate 19 SME partners from Bali, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta in penetrating the Canadian export market for the first time. These SMEs exported over 3,300 handicraft and artisanal products, marking a significant milestone in Indonesia's export landscape. The symbolic launch ceremony in Bandung on Tuesday (22/4) followed the participation of these SMEs in the Toronto Gift Show 2024, where samples were showcased in January 2024. Hartati Suganda, owner of Cantiq Living, played a pivotal role in promoting Indonesian environmentally friendly home decor in Canada. Maqin U. Norhadi, Executive Director of Business Development at LPEI/Indonesia Eximbank, highlighted LPEI's dual role in fostering new export-oriented SMEs and reducing logistical barriers, thus promoting sustainable export growth. The collaboration aims to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian products and sustainably boost exports for SME partners.

Utomo Kuntjoro, representing Hartati Suganda, expressed appreciation for LPEI's support in connecting SMEs with the Indonesian diaspora and other entities, fostering mutually beneficial relationships to overcome market barriers. Key SMEs successfully exporting to Canada include Greater Goods, Sakha, Riani Rattan, Sheo Home Living, Maharani Craft, Machastore, Bali Handy, Orchid, Sahana Craft, Matahari Cahaya Dewata, Mawar Ketak, Unique Lombok, Mendong Jaya, Studio Dapur, Dilmoni Citra Mebel Indonesia, Multi Kreatif Furnindo, Sabila Craft, and Raya Craft. Maharani Craft's expansion into five countries, including Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands, illustrates the significant impact of LPEI's support on sustainable export growth and the welfare of Indonesian SMEs. Furthermore, LPEI disbursed IDR 14.5 trillion in financing in 2023 for SMEs and microenterprises, facilitating exports to over 170 destinations and assisting over 613 new exporters, with a focus on Special Export Financing (PKE) for over 90 products.
