The Minister of Home Affairs is focusing on the worldwide economic growth and the standing of Indonesia.

In a recent statement, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian highlighted Indonesia's prominent position in global economic growth rankings. Based on data from tradingeconomics.com and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as of March 17, 2024, Indonesia's annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate stands at 53 out of 185 countries worldwide. Acknowledging Indonesia's economic growth rate exceeding 5%, Tito emphasized the country's fortunate position amidst global economic challenges. Notably, as many countries, including Japan, face recession with consecutive quarters of negative economic growth, Indonesia's resilience is noteworthy. Amidst economic success, Tito urged regional leaders, alongside Regional Inflation Control Teams (TPID) and Food Task Forces, to monitor local Price Development Index (IPH) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) closely. He emphasized the importance of inflation control, highlighting its critical role in economic stability and community welfare.

Additionally, Tito cautioned against natural disruptions like La Nina-induced floods impacting local food production capacities. He emphasized the need for meticulous navigation and collaboration among stakeholders, both at the central and regional levels, to address localized challenges effectively. Moreover, Tito directed attention towards 10 provinces with the highest inflation rates in February, including South Papua, Gorontalo, and Central Papua, and similarly noted 10 districts and cities with high inflation levels. He urged appreciation for regions maintaining low inflation rates and encouraged efforts to sustain them below the national average of 2.75% year-on-year inflation in February.
