EU- Indonesia CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) took place on Monday, 12th of June 2017 at Istituto Italiano di Cultura at 7 p.m.
The items of the agenda are as follows:
- Vittorio Sandalli, Ambassador of Italy to Indonesia, gave the opening remarks.
- CEPA Overview by Raffaele Quarto, Head of Economic and Trade Section, EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei. He explained the Recent macro-economic developments, EU-Indonesia Trade and Economic Relations, EU-ASEAN region-to-region negotiations and EU-Indonesia bilateral negotiation.The EU and Indonesia have already signed a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) which has been in operation since May 2014. It was the first in South-East Asia. In this context, the negotiations for an EU-Indonesia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) were launched in July 2016. The ambition is to sign a FTA that facilitates trade and investments and covers a broad range of issues. A Free Trade Agreement will develop the overall relationship between EU and Indonesia. The president of Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, has fixed his target to complete the negotiations in October 2018.
