The name comes from Piaggio's legendary experimental department in Pontedera, Italy, the birthplace of revolutionary creations that shaped Vespa history. It is in this creative space that designers, master craftsmen, engineers, and visionaries transform bold ideas into masterpieces. It is from this workshop that Vespa's elegant lines and timeless style are born, realized through a blend of creativity, precision, and a relentless drive for perfection. The exclusive blue and gold pin emblazoned with the words "Piaggio 8," worn on their uniforms, serves as a symbol of prestige for select technicians in the factory's most secretive and admired department. This workspace is closed to anyone other than development engineers, mechanics, designers, and testers, a testament to their extraordinary talent. The Officina 8 workshop has produced a series of legendary masterpieces: from the Vespa that set 17 world speed and endurance records in 1950, the flying kilometer record in 1951, the legendary "98 Corsa," to the rugged model that conquered the challenging "Six Days" off-road race. In fact, the first Vespa prototype even got its start here.
The exclusive Officina 8 edition is available on our most iconic models: the Vespa Sprint and GTV. Both stand out in the signature Blu Officina 8 colorway: an intense industrial blue with a distinctive brass matte metallic finish. This nuance seems to turn back time, evoking the industrial atmosphere of the past: from vises and lathes to grinders, as well as functional and durable work uniforms. This color creates an original contrast with the elegant and meaningful satin-finish metallic accents. Aluminum accents embellish the front profile and the headlight and taillight frames, while brass adorns the handlebar grille and rims. The rims are further enhanced by a diamond-cut channel finish, providing a distinctive premium touch. The Vespa Sprint Officina 8, in particular, features a sporty rear rack finished in matte black. Meanwhile, the Vespa GTV Officina 8 emphasizes its vintage character with its low-slung headlight and exposed tubular metal handlebars, while also providing a sporty feel on the road.
