Bank Indonesia Launches Bali Green Economy Forum 2025: Promoting Green Transition, Inclusion of MSMEs, and Export Competitiveness

The Bank Indonesia (BI) in collaboration with the Bali provincial government has inaugurated the inaugural Bali Green Economy Forum 2025 on 24 October 2025, hosted in Sanur, Bali. The event brought together government officials, regional representatives, regulators, small and medium-enterprise (SME) owners and green economic stakeholders. The forum emphasised a strategic shift towards a green economy in Bali by integrating environmentally sustainable business practices, boosting the role of green MSMEs (UMKM = Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah) and leveraging digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to expand economic growth.

In his opening remarks, BI Bali head Erwin Soeriadimadja highlighted that Bali’s economy grew by 5.95 per cent in the second quarter of 2025, above the national average, and posited that achieving sustainable growth requires aligning with the province’s vision of balanced development, culture and environment. Key themes addressed included enabling green-export value chains, enhancing green tourism and ecotourism, and ensuring that transition to a greener economy is inclusive so that no one is left behind. According to BI’s broader mandate, support for MSMEs in this green transformation is a priority.
