Exports of completely built-up (CBU) cars increased throughout the January-July 2025 period, compared to the same period the previous year. Some of Indonesia's largest car exporters include Toyota, Daihatsu, and DFSK. According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), exports of completely built-up (CBU) cars in the first seven months of 2025 reached 284,285 units, a 9.8% year-on-year (yoy) increase compared to the 258,890 units recorded in the same period the previous year. Toyota remains Indonesia's top car exporter, with exports of 97,740 units, a 3.8% year-on-year increase.
Previously, PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) was optimistic that its cumulative export target of 3 million units would be achieved and surpass expectations by the end of 2025. Daihatsu, also part of the Astra Group, was the second-largest car exporter, recording 64,596 units, a 2.8% year-on-year increase. Mitsubishi Motors followed, exporting 57,997 units. South Korean car manufacturer PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) exported 31,781 units, followed by Suzuki with 13,977 units.Furthermore, Honda exported 10,082 units to various countries, followed by Isuzu with 5,832 units, and Wuling with 1,177 units. Indonesia's largest car exporter, Chery, was the largest with 745 units, followed by Hino with 314 units and DFSK with 44 units in the commercial vehicle segment. On the other hand, despite increasing export performance, domestic car sales are actually sluggish. Gaikindo data recorded that wholesale car sales throughout January–July 2025 reached 435,390 units, down 10.1% (year-on-year/YoY) compared to the same period in 2024 which amounted to 484,250 units.
