Indonesia is ready to export 1.6 million eggs per month to the United States, given its surplus production of chicken eggs

According to the 2025 food balance projection from the National Food Agency (Bapanas), broiler egg production is expected to reach 6.4 million tonnes, with a monthly demand of around 518,000 tonnes. This indicates that Indonesia's chicken egg production will continue to experience a surplus. The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) will continue to ensure a balanced supply and stable prices to protect both farmers and consumers. However, countries such as the United States and France, as well as other European countries, have experienced a shortage of egg supply, which has caused prices to skyrocket due to poultry disease outbreaks and rising production costs. Indonesia's current surplus in chicken egg production creates a valuable opportunity for the country to consider exporting to countries experiencing supply constraints. Indonesia plans to export 1.6 million eggs per month to the United States, based on a commodity balance. However, the government still prioritises supplying domestic needs, given the free nutritious meals programme. Exports are to be considered in case of excess supply.
