In 2024, South Sumatra Province achieved economic growth of 5.03%, surpassing the national average of 4.95%. The province's economic growth was driven by favourable regional stability and high community productivity. Inflation in the province was recorded at 1.20% in the same year, while the national figure stood at 1.57%. Furthermore, in September 2024, the poverty rate saw a significant decrease of 0.81%, reducing it from 11.78% in 2023 to 10.97%. The province's Human Development Index stands at 73.84 points, categorising it as high-performing. The Open Unemployment Rate in August stood at 3.86%. Throughout 2024, the South Sumatra provincial government won 13 awards in governance, 5 awards in economy, 6 awards in infrastructure, 3 awards in human resources, 2 awards in environment and 7 awards in socio-culture.
