Santoso stated that the creative economy sector contributed approximately IDR 1.53 trillion to the national GDP in 2024. In a signing event for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Creative Economy at Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta, on March 23, 2025, Budi emphasized that developing creative products in Indonesia is a key strategy to boost the sector's role in the national economy. Beyond its GDP contribution, the sector's export value also showed promising figures, reaching USD 25.10 billion, dominated by fashion, crafts, culinary, and publishing. This demonstrates strong international recognition and demand for Indonesian creative products, making the sector a vital pillar of the national economy.
To strengthen the export ecosystem, the Ministry of Trade continues to collaborate with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Creative Economy. Their MoU focuses on developing creative SMEs, enhancing human resource capacity, marketing facilitation, intellectual property protection, and product commercialization. Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya highlighted the Hexahelix approach, engaging government, businesses, academia, society, media, and legal frameworks to optimize the sector's growth. One flagship program under this initiative, "BISA Ekspor," supports SMEs in business pitching and matchmaking with trade representatives in 33 countries. From January to February 2025, 146 business matching activities were conducted, recording transactions worth USD 8.77 million, including USD 3.35 million in confirmed sales and USD 5.42 million in potential deals.
