Head of OJK South Sumatra, Arifin Susanto, stated that the Joint Secretariat for Regional Economic and Financial Development of South Sumatra is committed to creating an integrated export ecosystem for coffee commodities, from upstream to downstream. This initiative aims to boost coffee exports as a flagship commodity, support inclusive and sustainable regional economic growth, and provide a positive impact on community welfare. To implement this program, OJK South Sumatra, together with the Joint Secretariat, will hold the Kick-Off event for Regional Economic Financial Development through Sustainable Financing Ecosystems for South Sumatra’s Flagship Commodities on January 14, 2025. This event will strengthen the sustainable financing ecosystem to support the development of South Sumatra's coffee, enabling it to compete in the global market.
South Sumatra, as one of Indonesia's major Robusta coffee producers, with a production reaching 198 thousand tons in 2023, has significant potential to increase its export contribution. The Kick-Off event will also serve as a strategic step in building synergy between various stakeholders, including OJK, the Provincial Government of South Sumatra, Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang, Palembang Customs, and other relevant institutions. This initiative will be followed by the ceremonial event “Regional Economic Financial Development Through South Sumatra’s First Coffee Export 2025” on January 20, 2025. Arifin emphasized that collaboration between the local government, businesses, and the financial services industry will strengthen the competitiveness of Robusta coffee in the global market while reinforcing the foundation for an inclusive and sustainable regional economy.
