The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Encourages the Digitalization of the Creative Economy

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, is pushing for the digitalization of the creative economy (ekraf), emphasizing that it will have a positive impact on cultural promotion and the development of ekraf potential. "The potential of digitalization in the creative economy sector is evident from the growing number of digital content creators who are promoting and socializing local culture. In the future, these content creators also plan to form an association," said Teuku Riefky Harsya in a written statement on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

Furthermore, Riefky highlighted the importance of governance and creative economy assets, particularly in the field of culture. He stressed that preserving traditions holds significant economic value, offering unique products for the global market. "Creative economy is a breath of fresh air that opens up opportunities and has a positive impact on local culture, as defined in Law No. 24 of 2019. The creative economy is the manifestation of added value derived from intellectual property based on human creativity, cultural heritage, knowledge, and/or technology," Riefky explained. Additionally, he introduced the 17 subsectors of the creative economy, which include game development, crafts, interior design, music, fine arts, product design, fashion, culinary arts, film, animation and video, photography, visual communication design, television and radio, architecture, advertising, performing arts, publishing, and applications. "There is immense potential to develop the creative economy within these subsectors," Riefky concluded.
