Exceeding Target, Investment Realization Reaches IDR 1,207 T Throughout 2022

The Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) noted that investment realization reached IDR 1,207.2 trillion in 2022, exceeding the target set by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) of IDR 1,200 trillion. BKPM Head Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that investment realization during the January to December 2022 period rose 34% compared to the same period the previous year. "This is one of the biggest investment growths and for Indonesia throughout the history of the republic there is a maximum of 34%," said Bahlil in a press conference, Tuesday (24/1). He detailed that the investment realization consisted of Domestic Investment (PMDN) of IDR 552.8 trillion or 45.8% of the total investment throughout 2022. This figure increased 23.6% compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the realization of Foreign Investment (PMA) reached IDR 654.4 trillion or 54.2%of the total investment in 2022. This realization rose 44.2% compared to the same period the previous year. Regionally, outside Java still dominates investment that came in last year. The portion reaches 52.7% or the equivalent of IDR 636.3 trillion. Meanwhile, investment in Java is IDR 570.9 trillion. This realization is equivalent to 47.3%of the total investment in 2022. By sector, the base metal industry still dominates investment with a value of IDR 171.2 trillion. Then, the mining industry amounted to IDR 136.4 trillion, the transportation, warehouse and telecommunications industry amounted to IDR 134.3 trillion. Then the housing industry, industrial and office areas amounted to IDR 109.4 trillion, and the chemical and pharmaceutical industries amounted to IDR 93.6 trillion.


Based on its location, West Java is the province with the most FDI and PMDN, namely IDR 174.6 trillion. Then followed by DKI Jakarta with Rp. 143 trillion, Central Sulawesi with Rp. 111.2 trillion, East Java with Rp. 110.3 trillion, and Riau with Rp. 82.5 trillion. By country, Singapore is the country with the largest investment in Indonesia, amounting to US$ 13.3 billion. Then China amounted to US$8.2 billion, Hong Kong amounted to US$5.5 billion, Japan amounted to US$3.6 billion, and Malaysia US$3.3 billion. Meanwhile, investment that came in in the fourth quarter of 2022 was recorded at IDR 314.8 trillion, an increase of 30.3% compared to the same period the previous year. Then, the total workforce absorbed during the fourth quarter of 2022 is 339.8 thousand people. In detail, the realization of this investment consisted of PMDN of Rp. 139.6 trillion or a growth of 17% (yoy) and FDI of Rp. 175.2 trillion, a growth of 43.3% (yoy). Investments that entered in the fourth quarter of 2022 were in five main sectors. First, the mining industry of IDR 39.8 trillion. Second, the basic metal industry, metal goods, not machinery and equipment amounting to IDR 39.4 trillion. Third, the transportation, warehouse and telecommunications sector amounting to IDR 36.8 trillion. Fourth, the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors amounting to IDR 33.5 trillion. Fifth, the housing, area and industrial and office sectors amounting to IDR 28.9 trillion.
