The Covid-19 pandemic that occurred caused MAS Wings flights serving the Tarakan-Tawau Malaysia route to stop. In fact, the airline from Malaysia serves flights three times a week. For this reason, the North Kalimantan Transportation Service Office hopes that the Ministry of Transportation will provide support regarding the reopening of flights on the Tarakan-Tawau international route, Malaysia. According to Acting Head of the Kaltara Transportation Agency Andi Nasuha, before the Covid-19 pandemic, the airline from a neighboring country, namely MAS Wings, served the Tarakan - Tawau flight route three times a week. But when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, the flight was stopped. Even until now the direct flight route has never operated. "We ask for reactivation of international flights," said Andi Nasuha, Sunday (4/12/2022). "We asked for it to be reactivated, because public interest for Tarakan - Tawau and Tawau - Tarakan flights is high," he said. Not only commercial flights, Andi Nasuha also hopes that the Ministry of Transportation will reopen cargo flights with the same route. According to him, if cargo flights are reopened, export commodities from North Kalimantan can be delivered more effectively and efficiently. "We also ask for air cargo flights to be reactivated from Tarakan - Tawau so that our fishery products can be directly exported there," he hoped.
