Ministry of Agriculture: Exports of Agricultural Commodities Have Continued to Rise in Three Years

Exports of agricultural commodities have continued to climb over the last three years. Seeing this, this year's agricultural commodity export value target of IDR 681 trillion is believed to be achieved. "In accordance with the directives of the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, since the Gratieks (Three Times Export Movement) program was launched the export value of agricultural commodities has increased significantly in the last three years," said Head of the Ministry of Agriculture's Quarantine Agency (Kementan), Bambang, in his statement, Sunday (4/12) /2022). Gratieks was proclaimed by the Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, since taking office in 2019. In 2019, exports of agricultural commodities were recorded at IDR 390 trillion, increasing the following year to IDR 451 trillion in 2020. The increase will return the following year, namely IDR 625 trillion in 2021. Wrong One area that has the potential to become an exporter of agricultural commodities is Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara. According to the Head of the Sumbawa Agricultural Quarantine, IB Putu Raka Ariana, apart from corn and honey, Sumbawa Island has the potential to export porang, sisal, sorghum, and swallow's nests.

From data from the Sumbawa Quarantine Indonesia Quarantine Full Automation System (IQFAST) information system, it is known that traffic between areas of sisal commodities for export through the port of Tanjung Perak has increased. Exports in 2021 will be 113 tons, in 2021 there will be 577 tons. This year, data for October 2022 alone there were 155 tons of sisal exports. A similar increase also occurred in exports of swallow's nest commodities. Swiftlet nest traffic data in 2021 will reach 6.5 tonnes. This year, until October 2022 exports have touched 7.7 tons. According to Bambang, the export potential in Sumbawa must be managed properly. To maintain the potential of Sumbawa Regency's natural resources, said Bambang, synergy is needed between the Sumbawa Besar Quarantine officers and all relevant agencies and the Regional Government. Especially overseeing and maintaining the entry point from the threat of the entry of plant pests. Currently on the island of Sumbawa there are 42 ports. However, of that number, only 10 ports have been officially designated by the Ministry of Transportation. Out of the 10 official ports, only 8 are mandated by Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 16 of 2022 which is guarded by the Agricultural Quarantine Agency. This means that there are 34 public ports that have the potential to become entry points for plant and animal pests. "This is the responsibility of the Regional Government and the cooperation of all stakeholders to jointly guard the Agriculture Quarantine District of Sumbawa," said Bambang.
