Indonesia Trading Company Participates In Coffee Market Exhibition In Amsterdam

Indonesia Trading Company (ITC), an Indonesian state-owned trading house, participated in the Coffee Market exhibition at Roemah Indonesia BV and Project Management Office (PMO) Kopi Nusantara in Posthoornkerk, Amsterdam, Netherlands on 1-7 September 2022. Indonesia’s Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir opened the Coffee Market exhibition and said that the Coffee Market was aimed at elevating Indonesia’s position to become an important actor in the supply chain of the Indonesian coffee trade at the international level. There are more than half a ton of Indonesian coffee samples with 97 types, ranging from green beans to derivative products from 11 regions; Ijen, Gayo, Mandailing, Karo, Lampung, Kerinci, Java Preanger, Dieng, Bali Kintamani, Flores, and Toraja. Thohir said, “While trying various original coffees from Indonesian plantations, visitors will also be presented with an exhibition on the history of coffee production, as well as types of coffee and its derivative products.”

ITC as part of PMO Kopi Nusantara, fully support the government’s efforts to increase the value-added of Indonesian coffee in the domestic and global markets with a good ecosystem from upstream starting from training and agronomic assistance for farmers, increasing access to capital, and using good fertilizers to ensuring off-takers to downstream. Director of Commercial & Development of ITC, Andy Tanudjaja, also hoped that the cooperation with various parties would yield maximum results in this PMO and encourage the progress of the domestic coffee industry to be globally competitive. ITC itself has been regularly exporting coffee to Egypt since last year. As The European Union itself is listed as the world’s largest coffee consumer, this Coffee Market moment that was held in Amsterdam could be a milestone in the history of Indonesian coffee being increasingly recognized by the global community and making Indonesia becoming the global market leader for the coffee industry in the world. The implementation of the Coffee Market Exhibition in Amsterdam is an excellent opportunity for ITC members of ID Food to interact directly with foreign consumers especially the European Union to enjoy the variety of Indonesian coffees. The event is also expected to have a wider business expansion so Indonesia can become a major exporter of coffee products in the world.  ITC also signed an MoU with ESRO Food Group B.V. and Amirage International B.V. regarding the export and import of products and commodities to fulfill needs in Europe.
