West Java Exports Reach USD 3.52 Billion in June 2022, Highest Increase from Automotive

West Java's export performance in June 2022 was recorded at USD 3.52 billion, an increase of 31.20% compared to May 2022. Similarly, when compared to June 2021, it rose 25.38%. The increase in overseas sales performance was driven by the automotive sector. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Java recorded that cumulatively, the export value of West Java from January to June 2022 reached USD 19.23 billion, an increase of 19.65% compared to the same period in 2021. Likewise, non-oil and gas exports reached USD 19.07 billion, or an increase of 19.13%. "Exports of 10 main categories of goods in June 2022, all of which increased compared to May 2022, none of them decreased. The largest increase in exports in June 2022 occurred in the category of vehicles and parts (automotive) which amounted to USD 211.53 million or 50.91%, "said Head of West Java BPS Marsudijono. After automotive, followed by machinery and electrical equipment at USD 92.89 million (25.45%) and Machinery and Mechanical Equipment at USD 59.50 million (28.70%). Judging from the sequence, in June 2022 the increase in the export value of the non-knitted apparel category brought it to the seventh position, above the artificial staff fiber and paper/cardboard categories.

The largest market share of non-oil and gas exports in June 2022 was to the United States, which was USD 749.96 million, followed by Japan at USD 280.51 million, and the Philippines at USD 265.86 million with the contribution of the three reaching 37.07%. When viewed in more detail, all of the main export destination countries experienced an increase, there was no country that experienced a decline. The largest increase was experienced by the United States at USD 213.56 million (39.81%), followed by the Philippines at USD 77.77 million (41.34%) and Vietnam at USD 66.67 million (53.14%). "When compared to the same month in 2021, almost all major destination countries have increased, only China, Taiwan and Hong Kong have decreased," he said.
