Director General of Foreign Trade (Ministry of Trade) Veri Anggrijono emphasized that the national Commodity Balance database system aims to support simplification and transparency of licensing in the export and import sector. “We as permit issuers, this (Commodity Balance) becomes a basis for issuance. It is a reference for issuing business licenses in the export and import sector from the ministry of commodity sector institutions," he said in a Webinar on Digitalization as a Means of Corruption Prevention, Commodity Corruption Prevention and PNBP Optimization, Wednesday. Veri in his presentation said that the Commodity Balance provides accurate and comprehensive data as the basis for formulating national policies related to exports and imports. The Commodity Balance aims to provide ease and certainty of doing business in order to increase investment and create jobs. Apart from that, it also aims to ensure the availability of consumer goods for the population and raw materials and/or auxiliary materials for industrial purposes. In carrying out the transformation of foreign trade policy, the Ministry of Trade pays attention to three important points in the regulation, namely the Commodity Balance, online and integrated and positive fictitious for business licensing. "This leads to transparency, effectiveness, simplification, compliance and certainty that increase competitiveness," he said.
The Commodity Balance has the legal basis of Article 559 of Government Regulation Number 5 of 2021 and produces the National Commodity Balance System (SNANK) as outlined in the Presidential Regulation. Through this legal basis, ministries/agencies provide data related to plans for export and import needs as well as supporting data in the electronic system. Therefore, Veri hopes that business actors who enter valid data in the SNANK digital application will allow the Ministry of Trade to easily validate the incoming data, so that permits for export and import can be issued more quickly. “With the issuance of permits packaged in a digitization process, it can speed up the process of issuing permits. From the beginning of entry to exit, entrepreneurs can see the process," he explained. As for stage 1, there are 5 commodities that are required to use the Commodity Balance, namely flavor, sugar, salt, fishery and beef.
